Welcome to the new members who have joined since my last blog entry. It's great to see that others are interested in being part of an off the grid USA. America used to be known for it's pioneers who relied only on their keen senses, strength of their backs and minds, and goodwill of their neighbors. That was part of our defining characteristics. Today it seems if you can't buy it, then it's not good enough. That is not the USA I want to be remembered as being part of. This group, blog as well as my off site blog at The Off Grid Home, and forum I started at Off Grid USA is my way of working to help change and inform Americans that the America our parents, grandparents, and forefathers knew and loved is still possible for us.
This blog is available for all members of Off Grid USA to post their experiences, thoughts, idea, etc. to help inspire each other and visitors to become more involved in making the America of tomorrow better and something of forefathers would be proud of.
Off Grid USA can be as loud or as quite as our members make it. You don't have to be an expert, have radical ideas, already be off the grid, or even aspire to be completely self-sufficient to be part of this groups voice. You just need to have a desire to make America and the world better then we found it.
Great Law of the Iroquois states, "In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." Is a quote we like to remind ourselves of when trying to decide about something we need to buy or use. This "law" is seen in different versions throughout the American Tribes and most, if not all, other land based traditions. These traditions pre-date our so called "modern" lifestyle and have proved to work for eons of human occupation of the Earth. So called "modern" ideas have placed the Earth in the position of serving man and we can now see how well those ideas have panned out.
Unfortunately for our generation we are reaping what these "modern master of destiny" have sown. That is an amazing task to set before people who have grown up under a materialistic rule but it is one that I believe each person can handle if they stop and listen to not only the wind and waves of the Earth but the quite part of their souls that whisper the answer of how to live. We all know how to live the question is who are you going to listen to the whisper of your soul or the screaming hawkers of the circus that is our world today?
