I joined the We Campaign hoping that I could meet people actively working towards our goal. I have come to realize that some of us have joined this campaign to 'add' as many 'friends' possible to his or her profile. A Green Facebook/Myspace..

I ask of anyone who reads this post to tell me what he/she is doing to spread awareness of the We Campaign. What actions are being taken to let elected officials know how "WE" feel about our nation's future energy needs/sources. Let us take action, not compete for profile popularity.

Assuaging your angst
By User from Visalia, CA Aug 20th 2008 at 12:11 pm EDT (Updated Aug 20th 2008 at 12:11 pm EDT)
I understand your frustration, and just wanted to let you know:

I've recently been hired as the Project Coordinator for a non-profit called the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization, whose immediate goal is to partner with the City of Visalia, CA (already accomplished), measure baseline pollution levels, then implement a strategy to implement clean, green, renewable energy ... the long term goal is to have the winning strategy for Visalia become the template by how all other cities within the San Joaquin Valley will become "Green Cities" ... don't lose heart, there are people and organizations out there working on it.

Ultimately, I signed up and joined this website so as to gather ideas and information from people who share these "green" priorities.

CrashingBashley, you ask a poignant question.

A friend and I are attempting to motivate people to pick up a phone and spend 5 minutes with each of Obama and McCain. Ask them to support a Moratorium on coal-fired power plants ... and to post the experience on the we page 350 ASAP -- Coal Moratorium -- Call NOW! Link

The membership is growing very slowly given the size of the WE membership, so we have added a similar page at Facebook Link pointing over here to the WE group.

IMAGINE the impact of everybody calling Obama and McCain daily, 350 times each over the next few months ... they could not ignore that kind of statement. Better than any petition. Their staff type our comments into a database ... as you speak.

So, we encourage you and your friends to join Link and Link , make two calls (or two daily) then write a short blog or rely to an existing blog.

Thanks for posting the question.

Doug
