Energy Independence? Liberate the Electricity Grid!

If America is to achieve Energy Independence then we must allow small and moderate sized electricity projects that contribute to the electricity supply of our country.

Currently, each electricity provider has different procedures, requirements and pay rates.

We must begin to treat the Electricity grid as a national system. There must be a standard across the nation for interconnection as well as a National Electricity Backbone, that will connect the rural low electricity demand areas with their large and renewable resources in our countryside with our high electricity demand urban centers on the coasts.

And???

An interesting position and statement of a percieved problem, but what action do you propose? I do not know what the requirements are in most states, only in Oregon where the system is fairly freindly to small energy suppliers.

I suppose if someone wants to do anything about this they shoud start with a survey of what each state does, form a group to come up with what they consider a best case regulation, and petition the feds and each state to adopt that plan.

This is probably a worthwhile challenge to persue, but I believe secondary to more direct action of actually getting more small scale generating plants into production.

Anyway, good luck if you decide to take it any further.

Actually, that is one of the steps Gore described in his challenge to the nation. I think we often just think about the generation of energy and not its delivery when we talk about clean energy.

Texas where I live now and days is starting to become a top wind energy producer this days. Though this is true it is also true that energy bills in Texas are way to high for populace tastes.

We should try alevating are dependency on oil companys. By buying only used cars that get more gas mile age and buying only a minimum pre site amount of gas for are daily commute.

Demand Response?
By Rachael Sep 21st 2008 at 1:02 pm EDT (Updated Sep 21st 2008 at 1:02 pm EDT)
Demand Response is the ability to provide peak load capacity through demand management (load control) programs. This methodology focuses on curtailment of loads during peak demand times thus avoiding the requirement to find new sources of generation capacity
