Tree Huggers
I feel so passionately about saving our EARTH...I want to do more...I know that even the little things that we individually do can make a difference...AWARENESS is half the battle. This group is about sharing ideas of how we can make a difference individually, and encouraging others to make changes that can be part of the BIG solution. My slogan is: "I CARE...BE AWARE."

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

YES! ...One energy efficient light bulb can make a difference!

HOW?...Here are some fact that you might want to know!

Saving $30, and protecting the environment, is as easy as changing a light bulb. If every American household changed a single light bulb to an Energy Star bulb, it would provide enough power to light more than 2.5 million homes, while saving consumers money.

Energy Star qualified bulbs and fixtures use one-third the energy of traditional models and last up to 10 times longer. In fact, consumers can save more than $30 in utility costs over the lifetime of one bulb. Replacing the most frequently used lights at home will yield the most savings.

The less energy we use, the less energy electric utilities must generate, and less demand means fewer greenhouse gas emissions. If homeowners change just one bulb to an Energy Star qualified bulb they will prevent the release of more than 450 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.

IT IS SO EASY TO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE...ONE LIGHT BULB AT A TIME!

Please pledge to help!

We can start by making some little changes that will have a big impact.

I came across some very interesting stats about the small changes that we can make and the HUGE impact that they have on the environment....here is what I found out:

WHAT TO DO? Recycle Aluminum and Steel cans - soda, soups, etc.
WHY? By doing this I can save 414pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 3,934,118 cars off the road!

WHAT TO DO? Recycle newspapers and Magazines - even food boxes. WHY? By doing this I can save 581 pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 5,511,566 cars off the road!

WHAT TO DO? Switch to washing clothes on "warm" instead of "hot."
WHY? By doing this I can save 349 pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 3,316,442 cars of the road!

WHAT TO DO? Switch just 5 bulbs in my house to CFL bulbs.
WHY? By doing this I can save 500 pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 4,751,350 cars off the road!

WHAT TO DO? Modify the temp in my house just 4 degrees each season. WHY? By doing this I can save 1300 pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 12,353,510 cars off the road! If that isn't good enough for you....here is another reason...It will save you money! With the pricey cost of energy, it will save me about $130/year right off the top!

WHAT TO DO? Follow the speed limit when driving. WHY? By doing this I can save 1500 pounds of CO2 in one year....If everyone in the US alone did this for just one year, it would be equal to taking 28,121,158 cars off the road. If that isn't a good enough reason for you...remember that our cars run most efficiently at lower speeds so it will save you gas money....and, if saving money at the gas pump doesn't appeal to you, them how about this reason....IT IS THE LAW!

ANYWAY...I thought these statistics were pretty amazing....and they are all things that I can do...EASILY...and the impact is go huge! Join me in helping heal our earth!
I am excited to be here. I am excited that it seems our society is taking notice and that AWARENESS is happening!

Here in this group I will share and I hope you will share ideas of how to change, efforts that can make a difference and companies and organizations that are working to save our EARTH...out home for future generations!

Bashing will not be tolerated...we all have opinions...and we all have the right to express them...but RESPECT is required....this website is about SAVING OUR PLANET...so feel free to express yourself here...but understand that DIS-RESPECTING others will not be allowed.

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!....SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND HELPFUL HINTS HERE!
