1) What the common root cause of these problems are; and
2) What constitutes a sustainable solution.
We believe it self-evident that the common cause is the Industrial Age economic model that creates money out of thin air, then requires the living people and the Earth pay the bill in labor or natures resources. When peoples labor pays the bill a debt crisis is eventually created with poverty the inevitable result; when nature pays the bill the environment is damaged. Only a few hundred years old, this economic model based on competiton and conflict has left our children a legacy of debt and a withering planetary environment. Read More »

Expecting the Unexpected
Last month's downtown tornado was a great reminder to us all how things can change in the blink of an eye. Fortunately, downtown Atlanta's quick response - and employers' smart commute options programs - had most businesses back on their feet without much interruption, but it reminds us of the importance of business continuity planning. The ability to get to your worksite, or work remotely, is one of the most immediate challenges you will face in a disaster or crisis. And it's not just severe weather. An event that impedes access to your business could be anything from a single water main break to the planned 14th Street bridge closure, to a terrorist attack. Teleworking and a solid
commute options plan are the keys to keeping your organization up and running during travel disturbances
For our employer Partners, The Clean Air Campaign offers extensive telework program assistance. Our telework experts will start with you at square one or help expand or formalize an existing program.
Don't get caught in the rain. Contact your employer program manager today and ask how to incorporate teleworking and other commute options into your company's business continuity plan.
Going Green for Earth Day
April 22 marks the 37th observance of Earth Day, and The Clean Air Campaign invites you to make the most of it by engaging your employees and taking inventory of your own office policies.
Earth Day is a great reason to evaluate how energy efficient you are from 9 to 5. Are you turning out the lights at the end of the day? Are you shutting down unused equipment? Check in with us for other easy ways you can take conservation one step further.
And while Earth Day is a great opportunity to energize your program, don't stop there! Hold an onsite Earth Day event. Send out a reminder of local activities. Ask that all employees make an effort to use a commute alternative that day.
Outside of work, encourage employees to participate in regional Earth Day Activities. A few examples include the Keep Atlanta Beautiful's Arms Around Atlanta celebration, EarthShare of Georgia's three-day lineup of events and the Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association's Go Green & Commute Clean event at Lenox Mall on April 22. Don't let Mother Nature down!
