No terrorist groups would ever think to raid them for their radioactive fuel or waste. Noone could possibly make a dirty bomb out of that material. Who would think to grind it in to a powder and disperse it from a private plane over populated areas, effectively poisoning millions of people and contaminating thousands of square miles of property and water supplies.
Are these people morons or is it intentional destruction of the human race? Are these the same idiots that scream about national security while they rape other countries for profit and foment terrorist organization? WHEN WILL WE WAKE UP? None of the problems we face occur in a vacuum. As long as we continue with these self-destructive policies we are threatened with annihilation.
A better solution is to promote the incorporation of photovoltaic collectors into building materials such as: siding and roofing. This technology exists today and could be substituted for conventional shingles, metal roofing, and aluminum siding. In essence, every building in the world could help to solve the energy problem. How much electricity could we generate if installed this technology on every building in and around Atlanta, New York City, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Dallas, etc? Generating electricity at the site of use in this way nearly eliminates the need for long distance transmission.
Wind can be added simply to this system using small sinusoidal wind turbines, about 6 feet in size, that can be mounted on roofs and on the sides of skyscrapers. These turbines are not susceptible to damage by high wind like the mega turbines. They look more like ornamental wind mobiles and don't have the aesthetic obstacles that large wind farms have. They are relatively cheap and can help bridge the gap during low sunlight.
Yes, we need a smart grid. We do need to transmit excess electricity to industry and areas experiencing low production. What we don't need is the means of production in a few corporate hands remotely located away from the areas of use. We need to require that the grid buy the excess electrical production at fair market price like they do from conventional generators. We need a system for powering long distance travel on our roads using electric vehicles. My suggestion for this is a system using short distance wireless electricity transmission built into the interstate highway system based on Tesla's proposal at the turn of the last century. Cars and cargo haulers would run off this system saving their batteries for local roads. A device like EasyPass could track their energy usage.
I am disappointed that Al and this site seem to be so set on centralized renewable energy instead of a small "d" democratic approach. The sun shines everywhere. The wind blows everywhere. Geothermal energy radiates out from the earths core everywhere. Why limit ourselves to isolated areas of use? Why maintain our dependence on the whims of large corporations? Why continue the insecurity of our economic stability on the good intentions of the same corporate executives that got us into the current crisis out of greed? Let's push for a real long term solution to these issues.
"Be The Change You Wish To See In The World"... Gandhi
If we cannot make changes in our own lives, how can we hope to change the world? We must be the living examples of what we want in the world. We are the living examples of Recycling. Advocates of alternative fuel vehicles or electric cars. We are living in a energy efficient and environmentally sustainable house. We have solar panels powering our house, and solar heating the water. We are the advocates of "NO MORE OIL", and refuse to even invest in Oil stocks or companies on ethical, moral and environmental grounds. Even though I could make a fortune in Oil, I refuse to invest in oil companies. I have a hard time just paying for rising gas prices for my obsolete gas vehicle. I grumble every time I have to pump gas. I look forward to the day that I can drive my new electric car, and turn my back on oil cars. The only oil cars I want to see in the future will be in museums as antique relics of a greedier and ruthless age. An age where greed for oil money ruled out reason, sanity for the environmental impact of oil. As seen in the movie "There will be blood", we get an insight into the ruthlessness and greed of oil men who will do anything... even kill others to make a profit. The Love of Oil has drowned out the love for humanity in some oil companies. Money seems to infect people and companies with greed, and they will do anything for it. Future historians will look back to this present age as "The Age Of Greed and Insanity". Where people and countries killed each other in wars over gold, oil, land and other resources.
We are hopefully approaching "The Golden Age Of Reason and Peace". It us up to US as a human race to decide what our future fate will be..... one of peace and plenty, or one of death, destruction and chaos.... What will we choose???

Here are few tips that everyone can and should keep in mind to curb the amount of CO2 each sends up in the atmosphere.
1. Always remember to unplug the charger once your ipod or mobile or laptop is charged. Most of these gadgets eat up a lot of electricity even when they arent charging anything. An average family can save upto 7Kgs of Co2 per year.
2. Try not to leave any gadget on standby, expecially television. Walk a few steps to switch it off completely then leave it on standby mode. An average family can save upto 150kgs of Co2 per year.
3. Always remember to turn off the unwanted lights they eat a hell lot of energy. No matter how tired one is it takes a split second to turn off the lights before to end up in the cozy bed of yours. An average family can save upto 100kgs of Co2 and a lot of money too.
4. Invest in low energy bulbs that give out the same amount of light but run on a third of the power. You can save upto 200kgs of Co2 per year.
5. Showers use nearly half the water of baths and cost a whole lot less to heat. Take a low power shower. You can save upto 290kgs of Co2 an year.
6. Wash your clothes at a lower temperature, say 30 degrees rather than 40 or 60. It uses way less energy and your clothes still come out sparkling white unless they were black to start with. An average family can save almost 90kgs of Co2 annually.
7. Freezers work the best when they are fully packed and this way they dont have to wast the extra amount of energy in cooling the empty spaces. So pack them up with lots of icecream tubs.
Try them out and make a difference in the amount of Co2 u send up in the air.

When was the last time any one of u planted a seed or a sapling? Did that tinkle ur brains ...well this may sound the most primitive thing to do..but we must not forget that trees are the ones that can make hell of a difference in our efforts to save the nature. Just plant something and see the grow everyday...i can assure u it makes u feel great inside. Do it once and u will know what am talking about. Try it out ...its safe and requires no special tools, planning or efforts. But that single tree will take care of lot of things. Trees are being cut at a fast pace but not being replaced with the same rate.
Now am sure most of us have watched 'Gods must be Crazy'. Remember the scene in the Part 1 where a lady gets out of her house, gets into her car and drives just to the next lane and stops to post a mail in the mail box. I know it was fun to watch it when she did that...but how many of us do that in our daily lives? Use a vehicle for short distances those which could be easily walked up to or even bicycled to. Its a humble suggestion from myside to everyone that think before u get into ur car... can u do without using it. Also when u buy things try not to use polythene bags. I know US has been very efficient in curbing this problem but there are many countries where poly bags are still in use and no proper disposal facilities are available. A single polythene bag may take up to 100 years to decompose!!! Its a long time we dont have that kind of leisure time with us. We need to work on this issue fast.
Start using a bicycle. Its dosnt use fuel...saves money hence. Keeps you fit and fine...again saves on those dollars that we would have spent at a gym. The most important of all it doesnt pollute the environment. Am sure it is going to become a mode of transport for many very very soon, the rate at which the fuel reserves are depleting.
In our daily routines just try to give out few minutes and analyse .. the activities that we perform...which side of the scale do it go to.... deterioration or upliftment of the nature and Mother Earth. To which part of the scale do u contribute. Good or Worse. Its high time that we seriously start to work on it otherwise it may be too late to even react!!
Let me sign out with this small thought .... TIME AND NATURE WILL WAIT FOR NONE.

1) What the common root cause of these problems are; and
2) What constitutes a sustainable solution.
We believe it self-evident that the common cause is the Industrial Age economic model that creates money out of thin air, then requires the living people and the Earth pay the bill in labor or natures resources. When peoples labor pays the bill a debt crisis is eventually created with poverty the inevitable result; when nature pays the bill the environment is damaged. Only a few hundred years old, this economic model based on competiton and conflict has left our children a legacy of debt and a withering planetary environment. Read More »
If we trace the causes of poverty, the above mentioned issues, and of environmental degradation on a planeary scale we will find they all have a common root-cause, the Industrial Age economic model. The FDU Game will test a Information Age economic model. Read More »
