There is an increasing need for more electric load from the grid and the answer is not to build another nuclear plant or coal plant. We need to more effectively use the energy we already have. How do we do that you ask? Demand Response. Lets create a virtual capacity on the grid instead of increasing the capacity. Demand Response is the ability to provide peak load capacity through demand management (load control) programs. This methodology focuses on curtailment of loads during peak demand times thus avoiding the requirement to find new sources of generation capacity.
