Rockefellers urge Exxon to take action on climate change
One of America's most powerful families is calling for a major change in the way ExxonMobil addresses the issues of global warming. Exxon grew out of the Standard Oil Company, which was founded by John D. Rockefeller in 1870. His descendants, who remain significantly invested in Exxon today, issued a statement saying that Exxon's leadership was "failing to address the future of energy and releated industry hurdles."
