Giant Chunk of Ice Collapses in Antarctica

In yet another signal that our planet is warming, a giant piece of ice seven times the size of Manhattan collapsed in Antarctica this week, reports The Associated Press.  Scientists say the collapse is a direct result of global warming. Such occurrences are "more indicative of a tipping point or trigger in the climate system," said Sarah Das, a scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.

"These are things that are not re-forming," Das said. "So once they're gone, they're gone."

Visit the We action center to let our political and business leaders know we want solutions to global warming.
